Step 3: Create New Post

To create a new post, you will need a minimum of two things, 1) a post title and 2) post body. The remaining items such as a category and featured image are optional. However, users with category-specific blogs will want to categorize each post, so the post can show up in the blog. After you’ve created a new post, publish it. If you’re not ready to publish, no worries. WordPress automatically saves each draft, so you can publish the final draft when it’s nice and polished.[/threecol_one_last]

Step 4: Optimize for Search Engines (Optional)

If you have the Yoast SEO plugin installed on your website, you can optimize the post for the search engines relatively easily. Optimizing for the search engines helps your post ranking better. If you’re a Website Maintenance customer, we can walk you through the process over the phone. Depending on the maintenance plan you’re on, we can even create and optimize posts for you. Otherwise, you can do it yourself. To begin, look below the post body section for the Yoast SEO box and create your post according to the Yoast SEO “checkboxes”. Yoast SEO automatically “grades” your post to ensure it meets SEO best practices. For additional help, please refer to the tooltips in the Yoast SEO box.  Next, click on the tooltip to find the link to a relevant article where you can learn more about optimizing your posts for search engines.[/threecol_one_last]
